Universitas Indonesia (UI) received Rp 10 billion Education Donation from Tahir Foundation. Jonathan Tahir, as Co-Chairman of Tahir Foundation handed the symbolic Education Donation to the Rector of Universitas Indonesia, Prof. Ari Kuncoro, SE, MA, Ph.D witnessed by the Chairman of MWA UI Saleh Husin, along with all the management leaders of Universitas Indonesia. The donation ceremony was held at the top event of UI’s Dies Natalis celebration year 2020, attended by hundreds academic communities and member of Universitas Indonesia at Balairung UI, Depok Campus on Friday (7th February).
Rector of Universitas Indonesia Prof. Ari said, “At this industrial revolution era, to move fast forward we need to prepare exceptional and competent human resources, university need to receive support, synergy and n – helix collaboration. Hence, we are open and thankful for the support given by Tahir Foundation in advancing science knowledge development in Universitas Indonesia”
Furthermore, Tahir Foundation’s Co-Chairman, Jonathan Tahir said, “We believed that high quality education goes parallel with the enhancement of standard living quality for the young nation’s generation, because of that we are called to support and synergize with Universitas Indonesia to produce competent human resources corresponding to government’s program in order for Indonesia to be able to advance in the global competition of the current Industrial Revolution 4.0 era. Our hope, that this donation will provide positive contribution for the next generation in our beloved country.
Donation given by Tahir Foundation will be used by UI to support the implementation of activities in education, research and community service and other activities which will be held to socialize nation’s values and protection of the country to academic communities of Universitas Indonesia, as the nation’s young generation. In 2020, UI’s Dies Natalis theme is “UI Sebagai Pilar Daya Saing Bangsa“(“UI as a Pillar of Nation Competitiveness”, UI believes that quality education is a pillar of nation competitiveness. Therefore, UI is committed to implement the Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi, developing exceptional, competitive human resources and able to contribute to our country.
At the peak of the 70th UI’s Dies Natalis celebration, the winners of the competition that was held before the celebration are announced. The competitions were Maumere dance, men tug of war, women tug of war, tumpeng decorating and jogging. Participants came from faculty/vocation program/students as well central administrative employees. Furthermore, the Dies Natalis celebration has been going since 1st February 2020. Various activities were held for employees and academic communities, starting from scientific oration by Badan Koordinasi Penanaman Modal’s chairman (BKPM) Bahlil Lahadalia, public lecture by Head of DPR RI Puan Maharani, and contests for academic community, employees and journalists.
UI thanked all parties for their supports so UI could excel as a university education barometer in Indonesia and become a leading university in Southeast Asia. For 171 years UI has dedicated to the nation and 70 years with great respect bearing the good name of our nation, UI expect to took part in holding high education quality by doing Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi: Education, Research and Community Service, continue committing to address nation’s problems and challenges.
